Honoring Ill Br William (Sam) Griffin, JR 33° IGH

Brother  Sam Griffin was born April 21 1927 in Glennville Georgia. He served in WWII in the US Coast Guard as a Seaman 1st Class, Sam was a member of American Legion Post No. 135.Past Commander of DAV Chapter No. 8. He worked as an automobile salesman for over 40 years with Dearing Chevrolet, Critz Buick and finally Backus Cadillac-Pointiac.

    Sam was very active in the Masonic Community. He was a member of Acacia Lodge No. 452, F&AM, Past Master of Coastal Daylight Lodge No. 750 F&AM. He joined the Anciant and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Savannah in 1969 and was invested with rank and decoration of the Knight Commander Court of Honor in 1977. He was coronated Thirty-Third Degree Inspector General Honorary in 1985 and served as Chairman of the Executive Committee for three years. Brother Sam was also a member of Alee Shriners and worked with the Ritualistic Divan at Ceremonials.

    Sam passed away January 29th 2013 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife Catherine Parker Griffin: Son, John S. Griffin (Nancy): Two Daughters, Cathy Griffin Porter (Kenny) and Patricia Griffin Williams (Michael): 7 Grandchildren and 14 Great-grandchildren.
