2016 Blue Lodge Ritual Tournament of Champions
presented by the Valley of Savannah Scottish Rite
The Blue Lodge Ritual is intended to encourage the appreciation of well performed ritual amongst the craft, which will in turn help maintain the strong tradition of ritualistic teaching that our organization has done for centuries.
The deadline for registering for the competition is April 16, 2015.
All events will be held at the Savannah Scottish Rite Center 341 Bull St located on Madison Square at the corner of Charlton and Bull Streets in the heart of Savannah's Historic District.
The Tournament of Champions will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2015. Registration opens at 9:00am and competitions begin at 10:00am.
A lunch will be served. A $5 donation is requested to help cover the cost of the food.
To compete in the Opening & Closing Lodge competition, each team must consist of at least 11 men, one for each officer position (Third Steward optional). Lodge furniture will be provided. In the case that a competing lodge does not perform Uniform work, judging will consist of how well the team executes it's own work.
Individual competition will include charges, lectures, prayers and working tools. For charges, working tools and prayers, entrants are not required to perform all three degrees, however first place will be given in each category to the highest combined score from all three degrees.
The Open category is for anyone wishing to compete with a lesser known lecture or piece of Masonic ritual. This could include the Temple Lecture, EA Lecture, On Yonder Book or any other relevant ritual that is practiced within the Grand Lodge of Georgia jurisdiction.
Awards will be given to the highest scoring performance(s) for each category. A trophy will be given to the highest scoring team in the Opening & Closing Lodge competition, and an overall lodge performance will be given to the lodge who's members compete in the most categories. Awards will be presented immediately following the last competition of the day.
A participants style and appearance will have an effect in their scoring. Appropriate dress (jacket and tie) is highly suggested.
