UPDATED 6/17/2011 The Annual Flag Day Celebration was held June 14 at 7:30 pm on the 4th floor of the Scottish Rite Center. This year's event was quite different from previous events and certainly proved very exciting and interesting for all. By having the ceremony indoors we enjoyed a comfortable setting and the program was truly outstanding and completely patriotic. We honored the Military Order of the Purple Heart and several members of that organization were in attendance to share with us the purpose and functions of that great Order. We had Hunter Chapter No. 502 National
Sojourners and Georgia Hussars Camp, Heroes of '76 as color guard(s) along with patriotic music plus a video program from Supreme Council about our Flag.Dignitaries introduced were Mr. Pete Liakakis, Chairman of County County Commissioners and Rochelle Small-Toney, City Manager of Savannah. Refreshments were provided afterwards and we all enjoyed great fellowship and food provided by the SR and prepared and served by Georgia Court No. 1 Order of Amaranth. Such a great and enjoyable event and we will probably have a hard time convincing anyone to try holding it outside again. Thanks to all who participated! See the pictures in Photo Gallery!
